USM VIEWS SERIOUSLY THE CLAIM OF SELLING FAKE DEGREES THROUGH THE WEBSITE

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) views seriously the claim that there was a scam selling fake USM degree certificates through the website.

USM had lodged a police report in Penang after an internal investigation detected the scam a few weeks ago. USM had also sought the assistance of other authorities including the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

USM is currently working closely with the police who was now moving fast to track and clampdown on the suspects. It is believed that the culprits were Malaysians operating from within the country.

At the same time, USM had taken the necessary actions to tighten the security features of its degree scrolls that will further improve its existing security features which also contain safety features and specific serial numbers.

USM management is also ready to assist anyone doubting the degree scrolls issued by the university.

USM is currently waiting for the police to arrest and prosecute the suspects and will continue to work together to nab the irresponsible operators. So far USM had not received any complaints from those who were deceived by this syndicate.

The public are urged not to take advantage of the alleged criminal act because this act is a clear violation of our country’s law.
